The children and their families joined in a Burns Celebration at school last week. There was a selection of Scottish songs to enjoy with P1-4 singing Katie Beardie, P5-7 singing Wild Mountain Thyme and the whole school performing the very popular Heather on the Hill.
The children have been learning Scottish dances as part of their PE so demonstrated their skills at Strip the Willow and Dashing White Seargent before inviting their visitors to join in with them in the Canadian Barn Dance.
P5-7 wrote and performed acrostic poems based on all things Scottish.
Everyone was treated to Scots Wae Hae on the chanter and this was followed by a tricky Scottish general knowledge quiz-well done to our 2 winning teams!
The afternoon was rounded off with some refreshments and an enthusiastic rendition of Auld Lang Syne.
