ELC Transport Topic – Airport Firestation

More adventures for the ELC children, where they got the chance to visit the fire station at the airport! 🚒✈️ We were welcomed by firefighters Jamie and Alan and were shown around the premises.
The children got the chance to explore the fire engine, try on some of the safety gear, and look around the offices and gym inside! We were shown the difference between different fire extinguishers and how to identify them, which has resulted in discussions around identifying ones within the nursery setting. 🧯

Scholastic Book Fair

The school hosted a Scholastic Book Fair this week. On Wednesday, parents were invited to join their children to look at the books and to take part in a fun and creative activity to design a new character for a Fairy Tale.
The school benefits from this event as we receive a percentage of the money with which we can purchase books for the class libraries.

Nimble fingers Donation

We were delighted to receive a cheque for £800 from Nimble Fingers following their very successful Craft Fair last Saturday.

Gigha Football Tournament
16 September 2026
What a lovely day P4-7 had on Gigha despite the rain. They were delighted to be invited to play in a Rural Schools football competition at Gigha’s new all weather pitch.
It was great to see such sportsmanship from all pupils while they were playing and when they were encouraging others. Well done to all schools taking part.
Congratulations to the Drumlemble Reds, who won the trophy and to the joint runners up, Drumlemble Blues and Glengigha. Every child was also awarded a lovely medal too.
Thank you very much to Gigha Primary pupils for inviting us. We hope to see you all again soon.

Donation from Nimble Fingers Craft Fair

Thank you so much to Nimble Fingers for supporting our school at your Craft Fair yesterday. We are to be presented with a cheque for £800 which is fabulous!
Thanks also go to parents, pupils, staff and friends of the school who attended the event, provided raffle prizes and baking and helped with serving teas and coffees.
We are very grateful to everyone who helped with special thanks going to Kate (Kate’s Crafts).

Gruffalo Granny Reading with Julia Donaldson

The children had a special story time today when they joined the first online reading of the new book by Julia Donaldson, “Gruffalo Granny”.
The older children enjoyed sitting with their younger buddies from P1-3 and the ELC, and relaxed as Julia herself read the story live to an audience of over 6000 schools.

ELC Stay & Play and Bookbug

Today the ELC held their first Stay & Play with Bookbug session this school year 📚🐞The children got to spend time with their families playing together before joining in for a story, songs and rhymes. Invited along today were children and the families who are due to start at Drumlemble ELC within the next couple of months. This allowed our new starts to get to know the environment and staff alongside their families 😊

ELC Transport:- West Coast Motors
10 September 2026
The ELC children had an exciting adventure today to West Coast Motors Campbeltown Bus Depot. We were collected by managers Alan and Robert, who showed the children around the premises and gave them the opportunity to explore a range of buses and coaches. We learned that all buses must be wheelchair friendly and were shown how this was done – watching the coach unfold the ramp was very exciting!
We were given a tour of the offices inside and met some of the staff, who explained what their roles were. The children were each gifted a bag with some goodies inside! A huge thank you to both managers for allowing us to come along and find out more about buses. 🚌
We also had a very important guest come along with us today…our safety mascot, SIMOA, who ensured we stayed safe while out on our adventure! 💜

ELC Topic Transport

As part of the ELCs topic on ‘Transport’ they had a special visit from one of the children’s
daddy and papa who brought along two different tractors for them to see. The children got to
explore the tractors and have a seat in them. The children enjoyed seeing the two different
tractors and spotting the differences between them. The favourite one from the children was
the blue one! One of the girls described it as Spider-Man’s Tractor ️🚜
Thank you to Thomas & John for bringing the tractors for the children to explore.
