End Of Term Prizegiving

Last week we celebrated the school year at our prizegiving. Pupils were awarded for their achievements in class, bikeability, football, pupil committees, citizenship, creativity and sport. There was beautiful singing and instruments played by the pupils from ELC to P7. The Sports Council were awarded the Sports Scotland Gold Sports award which recognises all the work in sport that the pupils and staff have worked on. Well done everyone for another fantastic year 😊 ⭐️   School Values: Respect, Collaboration OCTF: Best Start for Learners

ELC and P1-4 School Trip Torrisdale Castle Estate

What a fantastic day the ELC-P4 children had at Woodland School at Torrisdale Estate. Led by Ranger Steve, they got to find out about the different deer and see antlers, play and explore the Woodland school site, toast marshmallows and make a diorama of the Woodland School site. All of the children loved their day, asking and answering lots of Ranger Steve’s questions. They all of course loved the buggy ride from the dome down to the site! A huge thank you to Ranger Steve and the staff at Torrisdale Estate for having us today.   School Values: Partnership, Collaboration OCTF: Best start for learners, Connected Learners   Torrisdale Castle Estate Beinn an Tuirc Distillers

P5-7 welcomed back the Medieval Kintyre experts to see examples of their learning and to share some cakes as a thank you for their help.   The children were able to share their favourite activities, explain their designs for the personalised clay slabs and to talk about their recent experiences at Kilmartin Museum. They also demonstrated how to use QR codes to link to videos they had created.   Thank you to Elizabeth, Sheena, Jan and Paul for your invaluable help in bringing this project to life. Hopefully our young people will continue to show an interest in their local history.   Article 29: Goals of Education OCTF: Connected Learners, Ambitious Learners School Values: Partnerships, Respect, Teamwork

‘People who Help us

As part of the ELCs learning on ‘People who Help us’, we were delighted when some of our parents came into the ELC and spoke about their jobs. The children learned about being an optician and got to try lots of glasses on, a radiographer and got to see some X-rays, a vet where they got to meet the vets dog and see some animal teeth and a nurse, where they got to listen to each others hearts.  The children loved having the parents in sharing what they do and showing us lots of equipment that they use. We would like to thank Lindsey, Lorna, Stacy and Sylvia for giving up their time to visit the ELC and sharing what they do in their jobs.    School Values: Partnership OCTF: Connected Learners

ELC Mini Kickers

After the library, the ELC headed to the all weather pitch, where Tommy Miller led a fantastic Mini Kickers session for the children.  The children took part in lots of fun games and activities, developing lots of football and teamwork skills. All of the children had a fantastic time and loved taking part.
