We had a very busy World Book Day, starting with senior pupils reading with the ELC children who had brought in their favourite books.
The whole school listened to a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood and then worked together in groups to decide what things Red Riding Hood might keep in her pockets. Suggestions ranged from a torch, map and chocolate to Grandma’s house keys and a cuddly rabbit! It was so nice to see the older pupils showing great leadership skills and behaving in such a nurturing way towards the Early Years children.
The P5-7 children, and some members of staff, made secret recordings of themselves reading from their favourite books whilst disguising their voices. This led to a very entertaining quiz where everyone had to try to identify all the readers.
Everyone agreed we had a very successful and enjoyable day celebrating their love of books. 📚
