The children in P4-7 had a fantastic Friday afternoon with the Skipness Festival of Lights Team. They had already designed their own sails, using inspiration from our Kintyre Medieval Trail project and also from the story of the Cirein Croin, a mythical sea creature said to have appeared to fishermen off the coast of Carradale in the 1800s.
They transferred these designs to sails and, using driftwood and string washed up on the shore, the children created their boats.
These boats will move to Skipness and will form part of a wonderful Light Festival on the shore there in the first week of February.
Thank you very much to the team from Skipness Lights Festival for inviting us to take part and for the lovely afternoon of boat-making, singing and stories.
