The children were excited to see Mia Leng from the Scottish Association of Marine Science this afternoon.
The theme of today’s session was water pollution and the children learned the sources of pollution in our oceans through a practical activity. They were concerned to learn that pollutants such as acid rain, radioactive metals and oil find their way into the sea, affecting marine life.
The children also built on their knowledge of species of whales, sharks and dolphins that can be found on the West coast of Scotland. The session was completed with a whale-themed treasure hunt outdoors.
Thanks go to Mia for giving the children such an interesting experience. They are looking forward to further visits in the future.
